Lamar Turman

Lamar's Story

Lamar Turman serves as a Sr. Funeral Pre-Planning Specialist at The Harris Funeral Home, where he brings not only expertise, but a profoundly personal understanding of what families face during times of loss. A lifelong resident of Berks County, Pennsylvania, Lamar has built his life and career around caring for people—and helping them prepare for the moments that matter most.

Lamar’s journey through the automotive and insurance industries—spanning more than 26 years of director-level leadership—taught him the power of connection, trust, and honesty. In his 20s, he found his passion for serving others while helping clients choose their automobiles, beginning what would become an award-winning, 18-year career across NJ, NY, and PA. National awards recognized his professional excellence, but the memories he values most are the long-lasting relationships he built with the people he served.

In his 30s, Lamar transitioned to mortgage protection insurance, earning elite, award-winning status as a Director who guided families through some of their most important financial decisions. These experiences strengthened his ability to communicate with compassion and clarity—skills he now uses every day at The Harris Funeral Home.

But Lamar’s calling to funeral pre-planning runs far deeper than professional experience. Having endured many personal losses throughout his life, he knows the pain, confusion, and emotional weight that families carry when a loved one passes. These experiences changed him. They gave him not only empathy, but a mission: to help families avoid the stress and suffering that come when there is no plan in place. Lamar’s work is rooted in the desire to relieve others of the burden he once carried himself.

Today, Lamar is honored to walk alongside families as they make decisions that bring peace of mind, security, and dignity. His warm, steady presence helps families feel seen, understood, and supported—often at moments when they need comfort the most.

A dedicated mentor, Lamar has guided more than 15 sales professionals to top-tier success across their respective industries, reflecting his belief in lifting others up and sharing the wisdom he has earned.

Family is the center of Lamar’s world. He is a deeply proud father of a daughter who has built a meaningful career as a physician assistant, and a son who shines both academically and athletically as a standout student-athlete at Berks Catholic. His children fuel his purpose and remind him daily of what truly matters in life.

Rooted in compassion, shaped by experience, and driven by a genuine desire to help, Lamar Turman is honored to serve the families of Berks County through his heartfelt work at The Harris Funeral Home—bringing comfort, guidance, and peace when they need it most.
